How to get your business recommended by AI assistants
What to put in front of ChatGPT, Gemini, and Google's AI so your business is the answer.
You get recommended by an AI assistant by giving it clean, structured facts about your business and clear answers to the questions your customers ask, then watching what it says and improving from there. There is no trick to it, and there is no way to force it. You make yourself the obvious answer, and you check your work.
Why this is different from a page of links
When someone searches the old way, they get a list and they choose. When someone asks an assistant, they often get one answer, or two or three names. Being on page one is no longer the goal. Being the name that comes back is. That is a higher bar, and it rewards businesses that are easy to understand and easy to trust.
Give the assistants facts they can trust
Assistants read the open web, so the first job is to make your basic facts clean and consistent. What you do, where you are, the hours you keep, the languages you speak, how to book. When those details are the same everywhere and marked up clearly on your own site, an assistant can pick them up with confidence. When they are missing or contradictory, it hedges, or it names someone else.
Write the answer, not just the pitch
Assistants quote content that answers a question directly. A page that opens with a plain answer to a real customer question is far more quotable than a page of marketing. So write for the questions people actually ask, in the language they ask them in, and put the answer first. Most businesses have not caught up with how fast this is moving: BrightLocal’s 2026 Local Consumer Review Survey found that 45% of consumers used AI tools to find local business recommendations in the past year, up from 6% the year before.
The local and review signals assistants read
Assistants lean on the same signals that local search uses: a complete map profile, consistent listings, and genuine reviews. You do not invent these. You make sure the real ones are in place and working for you. Good reviews and a tidy profile tell an assistant that other people trust you, which makes it more comfortable naming you.
Measure what they say over time
Because no one controls what an assistant says, the honest way to work is to measure it. Ask the assistants the questions your customers ask, note whether and how you are mentioned, and track that over the months. You will see the mentions grow as the facts and content settle in. That is the proof, and it is why we never promise a ranking. We promise the work and the measured change.
